Evolution through the live-category lens

Evolution is the studio live casino gets measured against, yet it is also a maker that does not lay out its maths on its main website. We looked at what the official sources say about it, what Red Door Roulette reveals and where comparability in the live category runs out.

Studio passport: Stockholm, the stock market and 2006

Evolution was founded in 2006 and today operates as Evolution AB (publ), headquartered in Stockholm. Its shares trade on Nasdaq Stockholm, so there is a fair amount of public information about the company itself. The individual games are another matter.

On this page we assess Evolution strictly within the live category. Its direct rival here is Ezugi, which belongs to the very same group – and that is exactly what makes the match-up interesting.

When the studio is also a holding company

The Evolution name no longer covers live production alone. The group also includes NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming, Nolimit City and Ezugi. For players this has one practical consequence: an Evolution logo in the lobby does not yet tell you what kind of game you are getting.

In our comparison we therefore keep two things apart. Evolution as a maker of live games is one level; Evolution as the owner of slot brands is another. Slots from NetEnt or Nolimit City do not belong here and we do not rate them on this page.

The same goes for Ezugi. Although it has been part of the group since 2018, it develops its own tables with its own signature style. If you want to see the two studios side by side, head to the live studio match-up.

So a shared group does not mean a uniform product.

Dream Catcher and the road from table to show

Evolution is regarded as the pioneer of live game shows. Dream Catcher – a wheel with a presenter instead of a classic dealer – showed that a live stream need not copy a land-based casino. A studio, a camera, a simple rule and an element of surprise are enough.

Lightning Roulette later built on that principle. The base is standard roulette, but randomly chosen numbers with multipliers enter each round. The player follows two layers at once: the regular result and whether their number has just been ‘struck by lightning’.

This hybrid format comes at a price worth knowing. When part of the payouts is shifted to multipliers, a regular straight win tends to pay less than in ordinary roulette. You will find exact values in each table’s rules, never in marketing copy.

First Person: the live format without a camera

An interesting side branch is the First Person line. These are RNG versions of live games: the look and rules resemble a live table, but the outcome is decided by a software RNG rather than a real dealer.

For comparison purposes this detail matters. A First Person game behaves more like a slot – there is no fixed broadcast schedule, you start each round yourself and you set the pace. In the live version you adapt to the table and the other players.

So if you see the same title twice in the lobby, check whether it is a live stream or an RNG variant. The difference in experience is bigger than the shared name would suggest.

Red Door Roulette as a data sample

As a concrete example we picked Red Door Roulette from 2023. It is single-zero roulette in a live game show format that combines a classic table with a bonus room.

Parameter Red Door Roulette
Studio Evolution
Type single-zero roulette, live game show
RTP 97.30% (all bets except Straight Up), 97.09% Straight Up
Volatility not stated
Max win not stated, sources disagree
Mechanics bonus numbers with keys, random multipliers 2x–20x, ‘Red Door’ bonus in Crazy Time style
Release 2023
Source rules on games.evolution.com; RTP where two independent reviews agree, verified 8 Oct 2026

In every round some numbers receive a key and others a random multiplier. If a number with a key lands and you have a bet on it, the ‘red door’ opens into a bonus stage reminiscent of Crazy Time.

Note the two RTP values. The Straight Up bet has a lower figure than the other bets because it is the one funding the bonus features. This is the maker’s figure; a given casino may run a different version, so what counts is what the table’s info panel shows.

Why Evolution keeps RTP out of the shop window

With slots we are used to the maker stating RTP right on the game page. Hacksaw Gaming even publishes a whole ladder of versions. Live studios do things differently, and Evolution is no exception.

The reason is more practical than secretive. A live game has no single RTP – each bet type has its own return, as Red Door Roulette shows. Add side bets and table variants on top. One number on a website would be a simplification that misleads more than it helps.

So where do you look? In the game rules, which open directly at the table (usually via an ‘i’ or ‘?’ icon). That is where RTP tends to be broken down by bet.

For our comparison this means a clear limitation: with live studios we cannot line up figures from the makers’ websites, because they are not there. Instead we compare formats, mechanics and how easy it is to reach the figure. An overview of the criteria for all four categories is in the category guide.

Evolution and the Dukat.bet lobby: status on 8 Oct 2026

Precision matters here. At our check on 8 Oct 2026, Evolution did not appear in the Dukat.bet provider list. Ezugi, from the same group, did – confirm the current status in the lobby, as the provider line-up can change.

We are therefore not claiming that Evolution tables are available at Dukat.bet. This page serves as a studio profile and a reference point for the live category.

If you are curious about a roulette game show format from a studio that was on the list, take a look at Ultimate Roulette by Ezugi. The mechanics differ, but the principle – roulette with random multipliers – is close.

Four checks before a live table

With live games from any studio, it pays to verify a few things before your first bet:

  1. Rules and RTP by bet – open the table’s info panel and see which bets have a lower return.
  2. Table limits – minimum and maximum stakes vary from table to table; the operator sets them.
  3. Live stream or RNG – titles labelled First Person do not involve a dealer in front of a camera.
  4. Connection – the stream needs stable data; if it drops, what the rules say about interrupted rounds applies.

None of these steps means a sure profit. They simply help you know what you are getting into.

Frequently asked questions

When was Evolution founded and where is it based?
The studio was founded in 2006. Today it is represented by Evolution AB (publ), headquartered in Stockholm, whose shares trade on Nasdaq Stockholm.
Is Evolution available at Dukat.bet?
It did not appear in the Dukat.bet provider list at our check on 8 Oct 2026. Ezugi, from the same group, did. Check the current status directly in the lobby.
Why can’t I find the RTP of live games on the Evolution website?
A live game splits its return by bet type and table variant, so a single number would not be accurate. RTP is listed in the game rules, which you open directly at the table.
What is the RTP of Red Door Roulette?
Where two independent reviews agree: 97.30% for all bets except Straight Up and 97.09% for Straight Up (verified 8 Oct 2026). A casino may use a different version; the table panel is what counts.
What is First Person by Evolution?
RNG versions of live games. The look borrows from a live table, yet software RNG settles the result and you trigger each round yourself – no camera involved.
Does Ezugi belong to Evolution?
Yes – Evolution acquired Ezugi in 2018. It still develops its own tables and series, such as Ultimate Roulette or EZ Dealer Roulette.
